    108056 - Swim Club

    Charles County Swim Club
    This recreational based program, designed for both competitive and non-competitive swimmers, will provide leveled instruction in a fun and safe environment. Instructors may move swimmers to a different group after evaluating participants at the first practice.

    Dolphin Group: Must be able to swim one length (25 yds.) both freestyle and backstroke. Refines freestyle and backstroke technique and introduces breaststroke, butterfly, starts, turns, and finishes.

    Shark Group: Must be able to swim two lengths (50 yds.) of freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and demonstrate butterfly. Refines all four competitive stroke techniques, starts, turns, finishes and provides endurance training.

    Saturday Practices 11:00-11:45 a.m.

    302502 - Counselor in Training

    Our camp counselor-in-training program is designed to offer young, aspiring adults an opportunity to prepare to be the future leaders of tomorrow. CIT’s will receive coaching in resume writing, acing an interview, real-life workplace scenarios, and character-building experiences through a variety of interactive activities. Participants will be learning teaching techniques, going on various field trips, and becoming CPR and first-aid certified. Those enrolled must display a positive attitude, high enthusiasm, and motivation to learn. Job shadowing at various Community Centers Jul 1-5. No training Jul 4.

    308013 - Junior Lifeguard Camp

    This camp is designed to teach the responsibilities and duties of being a lifeguard - basic rescue skills, first aid, CPR, and water safety. Upon completion campers receive certification in first aid and an American Red Cross Junior Lifeguard completion certificate. Campers must be able to swim one length of the pool (25 yards of freestyle and breaststroke), tread water for 1 minute, float for 30 seconds, and swim underwater for 10 yards. No before or after care is available. This is not a lifeguard trainging class.

    Charles County Recreation has partnered with Rockfish Swimming, a sanctioned USA Swimming organization, to offer an exciting opportunity for local swimmers to elevate skills. New swimmers must come in for a swim evaluation before registering. This program is designed for swimmers looking for a higher level of competitive swimming instruction through structured practices. Swimmers will have the option to join Rockfish Swimming to travel and compete in USA Swimming sanctioned swim meets.
